Triggers to change between climbing, rappelling, and resting.

Distance Threshold

Minimum elevation change before detecting climbing/rappelling when resting.

Suggestion: Set as low as possible not to miss the start of climbing/rappelling.

Speed Threshold

Minimum vertical speed in meters/minute before detecting climbing/rappelling when resting.

Suggestion: Set as high as possible to prevent false starts but low enough to trigger climbing/rappelling.

Also see: Speed in the Chart Menu

Note:

You must exceed the Distance Threshold and Speed Threshold to trigger climbing or rappelling.

Climbing Timeout

Duration at rest before switching to resting when climbing

Suggestion: Set this value rather too high than too low.  Climber's Assistant might break a single pitch into multiple pitches if this value is too low.  You can always use the Split function to split a climb into two pitches.

Also see: Climb page, Buttons settings

Rappelling Timeout

Duration at rest before switching to resting state when rappelling

Suggestion: Set this value as low as possible to prevent missing the start of rappels.  Use the Split function to split a rappel into two pitches.

Note:

At rest is defined as not having moved more than Distance Threshold or moved slower than the Speed Threshold.
